About Us

Midwest Ambulance Service of Iowa, Inc. began meeting the needs of the Des Moines metropolitan area in August of 1984. Since its inception, Midwest Ambulance Service of Iowa has grown from three employees and two vehicles to many caring EMTs, Paramedics, and PRN employees as well as a fleet of over twenty vehicles company wide.

Midwest Ambulance Service of Iowa, Inc. was founded in 1984 and is incorporated as a Subchapter S Corporation in the State of Iowa. The Iowa Department of Public Health has authorized Midwest Ambulance Service to provide advanced emergency medical care as a critical care paramedic service.  We are committed to delivering the highest quality of service on a consistent basis. We are proud to be an Iowa owned and operated company, as well as a Veteran-Owned Small Business. Our area of expertise is developing, implementing and managing EMS systems. Midwest Ambulance Service provides specialized transportation, Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support and Critical Care transportation services with bariatric transport capabilities. Our Critical Care certification allows us to provide the highest level of care patients can receive within the pre-hospital setting in the state of Iowa.

In 1989, Midwest Ambulance was asked by the City of Grinnell to provide EMS after a tragic event caused the previous provider to close their doors. Within 36 hours Midwest was providing services to the Grinnell community.  Midwest has been honored to be the EMS provider in Grinnell for nearly twenty-five (25) years.

Midwest Ambulance Service of Iowa began to expand in the 1990′s by adding Midwest AmbuCare, Midwest Voice of Help and EMSAR to the Midwest Family. These companies have allowed Midwest Ambulance Service of Iowa to provide many different types of services to the healthcare industry.

In 2012, Midwest Ambulance was awarded the contract to provide E-911 services to the residents of Jefferson County. Midwest Ambulance has been able to increase the service level from the previous provider of an Advanced Level Service to a Critical Care Paramedic Service. Advancements in service level authorization, equipment, and protocols have increased the quality of patient care in Jefferson County.

Excellent patient care is our top priority.  All services we provide will be accomplished in a professional manner while maintaining the dignity of those we serve.
